How To Host The Perfect Friendsgiving

How To Host The Perfect Friendsgiving

That time of the year is almost here. The air is cooling down and you guessed it, Thanksgiving is just around the corner. For many of us with family out of town or too far to get to this season Thanksgiving can get a little lonely. Rather than microwaving a TV dinner and staying home alone, why not host a Friendsgiving! What better way to spend the holiday than with your second family, your friends. You might be worried about hosting such a big event, but don't worry, Fatty Sundays has got you covered.

Make Your Space A Festive Place

The first thing you’re going to have to do is make it look like Thanksgiving invaded your home or apartment. You can go with traditional fall colors or shake things up a bit and use some other colors like gold and silver for accents. We suggest checking out Pinterest to get your creative juices flowing. Why not make some of your decorations edible!

Stock Your Bar

While food might be the most important part of your Friendsgiving, booze might be a close second. Make sure your bar is at least somewhat stocked with various alcohols as well as plenty of wine for dinner. We suggest pairing your Friendsgiving dinner with a nice Pinot Noir to help accommodate all the different salty and sweet flavors. Speaking of salty and sweet, for dessert you can pair our sprinkle covered pretzels with a sweet Italian Sparkling wine like Asti Spumante or even a Port or German Riesling with our Salty Toffee Pretzels. Another great idea is to have your friends bring their own preferred libations so everyone's happy and you don't have to worry about it.

Make It A Potluck!

One of the most daunting parts of hosting any event is the cooking, so a holiday centered around food can be especially stressful. Take the load off your shoulders and have your guests bring a dish or two. After all, Thanksgiving is all about sharing, right? Worried about coordinating what people bring? Why not let Google give you a hand. They have a few ways to coordinate your Friendsgiving. You can set up a sign up sheet on Google Sheets or Google Docs letting your friends know what they should bring as well as what other people are already bringing. This allows you to focus on the main dish, the turkey. If it's your first time, make sure to do your research and find out what the best way for you will be to make a perfect turkey. We strongly suggest checking out Alton Brown’s Perfect Roast Turkey if you really want to impress your friends.

Finish With A Great Dessert

In sticking with the theme of making your Friendsgiving a low stress event, we suggest making a sundae bar for dessert! All you have to do is buy a few different flavors of ice cream, some toppings, bananas, and of course Fatty Sundays Chocolate Pretzel Bites! You’ll be sure to have an awesome dessert setup.
