Fancy desserts are of course pretty to look at, but they can also be delicious and easier to make than you might expect. For Mother’s Day we went all out and made chocolate mousse parfaits, a dessert that is sure to wow any Mom who loves chocolate (like ours!). We put our parfaits in fancy glass cups and called it a Fatty Sunday. Really, what’s better than dessert in a cup? Try out our recipe below!
Layered Chocolate Mousse Parfait Recipe Ingredients:
-2 cups of very cold heavy whipping cream
-5 oz white chocolate
-5 oz milk chocolate
-6 egg whites, without any trace of yolk
-To top: extra whipped cream and Fatty Sundays pretzels
Layered Chocolate Mousse Parfait Recipe Directions:
-In a heatproof bowl, resting over a saucepan filled with 2 inches of simmering water, melt the milk chocolate and 1/4 of the heavy cream together. Stir with a spatula, remove from the heat and allow to cool.
-Beat 3 egg whites in an electric beater until stiff peaks form and set aside. With clean, dry beaters and a bow, whip together the 3/4 cup of the heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
-Gently fold half of the whipped cream into the melted chocolate, then gently stir in the rest, being careful not to deflate the mixture. Then, lightly fold in the egg whites until there are no longer big bubbles of either cream of egg. Be careful not to overtax.
-Repeat entire process with the white chocolate. Now, layer the white chocolate and milk chocolate in glasses and set for at least two hours.
-Top with extra whipped cream and Fatty Sundays pretzels.
We topped our mousse parfaits with Fatty Sundays Dark Chocolate and Toffee pretzel rods and crushed pretzel pieces. But you can choose any pretzel flavors you want! There’s no wrong answer. Sub out the milk or white chocolate with dark chocolate if that’s more your thing. Fun tip: scoop the delicious mousse with your pretzel rod, which can act as spoon.
